ShotGrid
To assist with the development of the project, ShotGrid has been set up to assist with management aspects of the project. ShotGrid has been overwhelmingly valuable in receiving feedback as a Dailies platform and will most likely be replacing SyncSketch going forward.

Production Log - Production Logs 8-12 have been updated.
What I’ve been listening to this week:

GEORGE MORRIS
Render Set-Up
"In order to make sure that when production came to render, the MRQ (Movie Render Queue) was all set up and ready to do things such as quick test renders, full beauty renders as well as deferred renders for the 2D comp artist to work on in Nuke.
For the deferred render I made sure to export the world position, actors, world depth, as well as others. To make sure it was successful I handed it to my 2D comp artist friend who works at MPC to make sure everything was working well and exported correctly, which it was."
"I will now move on to seeing if the import for things such as Alembic animations will work in Unreal with test animations made by the animators as well as testing the importation of cameras in Unreal. Once I am comfortable with that the rendering process will be much smoother."

“Continued updating previs with new shots, also did some previs shots myself to include.”

"Got Shotgrid up and running, Test Animations, Handed over Maya Rigging"
"One thing we realised this week was that we needed to get more organised, so I pitched it to the team that we could use Shotgrid (formally Shotgun). This presented a minor problem, which was that all our accounts had expired. This meant having to liaison with our support team to get them up and running again. After I got access, I created the project and added all our team members to it. From there I handed it over to our producer, who could start setting up stuff like shots, assets and tasks. We would also use the handy media section to show our dailies as all the tutors had access to all of this and could see updates whenever they wanted."
"My second task for the week was rigging, however, Priya found someone to help our team who was much better and quicker at rigging than me. This was extremely helpful as it freed me up to do my other tasks, such as animating my shots, without being overworked. So I handed over the Maya geometry to the new rigger and let them get to work. By the end of the day we had a functioning Maya rig! From here, I asked Priya for my shots and started looking at how I would do the block out. There was unfortunately a slight issue, and we had to re-do the animatic and a lot of shots where cut, this meant that I was doing some slightly different shots as some had to be re-delegated. They gave me SH_030 and SH_040."

"I’m still modelling two stall assets and completed the food stall. I then created a board that can be placed in the middle of the food stalls for later. I then completed the cargo ship bottom."
What I’ve been listening to this week:

PRIYA SHAH
"As part of a task given by our supervisor Mike, he suggested that Suncoast works on the 7ps. This is to help set out the marketing strategy structure for Suncoast to provide and attract potential clients. On my first attempt, the feedback suggested was very helpful. The following points he suggested was that to specify what exact skills does the team have as part of production. Additionally, he mentioned that price per minute will not work. The reason is because if there was a complex film and a very simple walk cycle, for example, the price per minute would either be recalculated heavily or would be super expensive for clients who do not want complex films. Through research and suggested by supervisor, website was given to check how they set their rates out."

"The idea of having skill cost set hourly was a better alternative rather than the shot length. This way the employees are getting paid on hourly based and it seems quite fair and easier to manage the costs and profits overall. I will be implementing this into making a price sheet like wired video have done for theirs. Lastly, the main feedback was how the process that you as a business want to offer when clients contact you. I was suggested to make a flow chart on how our plan is to have clients contact us and how they would proceed further. Down below, you will see the changes I have done from the feedback. I did agree to all the feedback as they were reasonable but also clearer to me on what the 7Ps actually met, as I was a bit confused on how to apply it onto SunCoast."
