Description

My YouTube channel from yesteryears, a creative and experimental production playground.

Brand building experimenting and improved production skills such as; video editing, thumbnail production and simple key frame animation.

OBJECTIVE

HFT, aka Happy Fun Time, was designed to be a space where I could practice and experiment with different tools to express myself creatively.

This took form as a YouTube channel where I would record, edit and publish content that predominantly consisted of videogame commentary or short form memes. In short, I just wanted to make weird stuff as a kid.

EARLY EXPERIMENTS

Before I had clear creative direction, I spent time expressing myself in the videogame commentary format. At the time, this was a very admirable path due to the possibility of playing videogames for a living. Early projects we're very rudimentary with the financial constrictions of being a kid without income. Albeit, all projects were an opportunity of utilising what tools I had and seeking methods and tools to improve the output.

I look back on the channel as the starting point of my creative practice. It built my curiosity of editing production, leading to my attendance at Escape Studios.

LOOKING BACK

What drew me in?

"My friends drew comparisons of my personality to creators already making this sort of the content and communicated them to me. This compelled me to try my hand at it."
"At first, I just wanted to start and used tools / resources that I already had access to. This was a camera pointing at the TV with an in-built microphone. All edited with Windows Movie Maker."
"This developed into the efficiency of using standard timeline editors. I moved on from Windows Movie Maker to Movie Studio Platinum and ending at Sony Vegas. My standards for the creative production grew with each video/series all whilst consuming the content from various other creators and absorbing what they were doing. The main example is probably analysing Soviet Womble's effective use of subtitles."
"The videos are a world away from the work that I conduct today, but HFT remains the earliest era of my creative story."

NOTABLE WORK
