Introduction

Referring to Julia’s book (‘the really good idea test’), chances are that you are not the first person to think of an idea or concept nor the first person to act on it. Saying that you are the first of something is a risky assumption that probably isn’t true. It just shows that you haven’t done the research to actually look at what is comparable to your idea.

OddWatch has three unique value propositions. None of which are unique on their own but the three together can be at least a little unique.

Art Direction

This unique value proposition closely ties to OddWatch’s primary objective:

“To bring fashion and technology products to life through powerful, emotive and aesthetic art - across renders, animated, immersive and interactive mediums. To combine creative, technical and cultural innovation into a holistic and inclusive studio strategy." (still debating on changing the objective to include all products rather than just fashion/technology.)

OddWatch’s business parallels seem to lack an art direction when it comes to sequences and graphics. Looking at individual frames of our parallels work, they show a technical understanding of the tools that they use. However, viewing the production as a whole, it appears to be a mess of sequences prone to confusing the viewer. Exploiting the use of a prototype pipeline can allow a strong art direction and mitigate the risk of any confusion.

Mentorship Space

This unique value proposition looks towards a specific student need:

“Students should retain access to tools after university without having to pay significant amounts of money.”

When leaving university, students’ access to tools and equipment are abruptly stopped. Students/graduates should still be able to have access to these tools in order to practice skills, build portfolios and conduct work without having to pay significant amounts of money. After achieving our long term plan, OddWatch plans to establish a space that would grant students a physical space allowing continued usage of tools.

Breakfast

More of a motivator than a unique value proposition but I wanted to emphasize this as a UVP since it is an underrated value.

Since our 2nd primary customer segment consists of students/graduates, it is understandable that one’s financial situation can be daunting. Provided by OLIO, we intend to establish a breakfast club at OddWatch. Where regulars and subscribers can eat a meal for free 7 days a week.

As a student myself who is struggling, this would have been a service I would have really benefited from. Supported by OLIO, providing free breakfast to those who use our facilities can relieve a huge burden.
